Jessica Sequeira es escritora, traductora literaria y investigadora postdoctoral FONDECYT 2025 con el proyecto “Las traducciones sonoras de la poesía y la música de India y China en Chile (siglos XX y XXI)”. Sus libros incluyen Taal, Chacal dorado, Una ostra furiosa, Rombo y óvalo, Otros paraísos, Una luminosa historia de la palmera y Jazz de los afectos. Ha traducido más de treinta libros de autores latinoamericanos, entre ellos Winétt de Rokha, Teresa Wilms Montt, Gabriela Mistral, Augusto Monterroso y Macedonio Fernández. Tiene un doctorado en Estudios Latinoamericanos de la Universidad de Cambridge, donde estudió la influencia de India en la poética de escritores latinoamericanos, y actualmente es investigadora postdoctoral en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Como parte del grupo musical Lux Violeta crea canciones con letras de poesía, y ritmos latinoamericanos y asiáticos. Vive en Santiago de Chile.

Jessica Sequeira is a poet, novelist, literary translator and historian. Her books include Taal, Golden Jackal / Chacal Dorado, A Furious Oyster, Rhombus and Oval, Other Paradises: Poetic Approaches to Thinking in a Technological Age and A Luminous History of the Palm, and she has translated many works by Latin American authors, most recently Augusto Monterroso’s The Gold Seekers. She completed a PhD at the Centre of Latin American Studies at the University of Cambridge, on the influence of India on six Latin American writers, and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Instituto de Historia (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile) writing about the Indian and Chinese influences on the music and poetry of Chile.

She lives in Santiago, Chile.

As part of the musical group Lux Violeta, which draws on Latin American and Asian traditions, she also interprets poems as songs featuring voice, tabla, guzheng, and guitar. You can listen here on Spotify.
